A Regenerative Weekend in Salsomaggiore Terme

A Regenerative Weekend in Salsomaggiore Terme

La Bellissima.

That’s how Salsomaggiore is called. An ideal city to treat yourself for a regenerative weekend, filled with relaxation, good food, and, of course, good wine. One of the most famous thermal centers in Italy, it also boasts splendid Liberty-style architecture that has always captivated the most passionate architects.

Below, I have prepared an itinerary for you that, over a weekend, includes outdoor activities, cultural visits, wellness, and spa experiences in Salsomaggiore Terme.

Ready to take notes? Let’s begin!

T-Spatium

T-Spatium in Salsomaggiore Terme

We move by car, just a few minutes away from the city centre, heading to Tabiano Terme, where you’ll find T-Spatium, within the complex of the Respighi Baths, known as the ‘breath’ baths.

They offer various regenerative and relaxing treatments, such as thermal pool access, mud treatments, spa services, massages, consultations with naturopaths and holistic practitioners, as well as beauty rituals for the face and body using only natural ingredients.

For enthusiasts of Padel or E-Biking, there are packages that combine sports with well-being.

Palazzo dei Congressi

Palazzo dei Congressi Ex Grand Hotel des Thermes di Salsomaggiore Terme

One of the most enchanting and historic buildings in all of Salsomaggiore is none other than the Palazzo dei Congressi – formerly the Grand Hotel des Thermes.

Founded in 1898 and soon after under the ownership of Cesare Ritz, one of the most significant hotel entrepreneurs of the 19th century, founder of the Ritz Paris and its namesake in London.

The Grand Hotel des Thermes transformed into the Palazzo dei Congressi of the Municipality of Salsomaggiore Terme in 1965, still retaining its Moorish charm that strongly resembles the Alhambra in Granada. It’s truly worth a visit.

Gelateria Sanelli

Gelateria Sanelli di Salsomaggiore Terme

A strategic stop just outside Palazzo dei Congressi, the Gelateria Sanelli is truly worth a taste.

In 2019 it won the award Gambero Rosso, and in 2023 it appeared in Cucina Italiana magazine among the top 100 gelaterias in Italy.

A friendly gentleman and his son run the business from a small kiosk nestled between Piazza del Popolo and Viale Romagnosi, making ice cream from natural ingredients and following seasonal availability.

A Walk in the Vineyard at Cantina Il Poggio

Passeggiate in vigneto con l'enologo presso Cantina Il Poggio

A stop here on the hills of Cangelasio, at Cantina Il Poggio, was certainly not to be missed.

Only in September, the walks in the vineyards return. One of our winemakers, Filippo, will guide you through the discovery of the vine, its structure, its functioning, concluding with a wine tasting led by expert sommeliers.

Here at Cantina Il Poggio, we place great attention and value on tastings, so much so that we call it Cultural Tastings. A moment and a place where food and wine are well combined together with the emilian tradition.

Book your walk in the vineyards here; September is the perfect month to admire the foliage 🍂
