Vintage Menu 2023 πŸ‡

Let’s discover together the Vintage Menu 2023 by Cantina Il Poggio, to be enjoyed between September and October, always respecting the seasonality of the ingredients.

Focaccia with grapes

It was made when grapes were abundant and bread was always and strictly homemade.

Perfect for an outdoor picnic during the last days of summer warmth or even as a replacement for bread itself, focaccia with grapes is the perfect baked good. You can choose whether to use whole wheat flour or type 00 flour, and you can also enjoy it for breakfast or as a snack in the afternoon.

Goat Cheese, Figs, and Walnuts Toasts

Who doesn’t love figs? Green ones or black ones, your choice. Create a simple composition, this is an impressive appetizer to present to your guests.

I also recommend a touch of balsamic vinegar or chestnut honey, just a hint to make everything even more complete and delightful to the palate.

Pasta and Chickpeas

Pasta and Chickpeas, a symbol of the autumn. You can choose whether to color it with a touch of tomato sauce or leave it simple. In this case, I recommend a 100% plant-based recipe. Pasta and chickpeas is a reassuring first course loved by all, with its creamy texture. It couldn’t be missing from the Vintage Menu.

Fried Mushrooms

The end of summer should gift us with some delights mushrooms, to be fried in abundant vegetable oil.Β A finger food option that everyone loves and you can prepare it also in the vegan and gluten-free version.

And now that I’ve given you a great idea for a vintage-themed menu, which bottle should you pair it with? Well, ladies and gentlemen, we’ve created this menu so that everything revolves around Otium 2019.

Everything Paired with Otium 2019 🍷

Otium or negotium?

“It’s followed by a nap, then a walk, then a bit of reading, followed by rubbing, exercise, a bath. For dinner, with friends, one reads a book, and then listens to music.” (Cit.)

We could translate Otium with slow living: trying to slow down from the frantic pace of a life increasingly devoted to work (and smartphones) to give ourselves moments of pleasure, relaxation, and conviviality, without necessarily having to do something that makes us feel operational and productive.

And thus, our bottle of red still wine, Otium, vintage 2019, takes the stage: a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Barbera, and Bonarda. Internationality and frenzy (Cabernet and Merlot) meet the local and the leisurely (Barbera and Bonarda, grape varieties typical of the Emilian tradition).

A simple still red wine that recalls the beauty of simple things. A body and acidity that dance perfectly, in rhythm with your palate. The perfect bottle to place at the center of a well-set table, awaiting its guests, ready to rediscover the small pleasures of life, as we say in Italy: La dolce vita
