Report Vendemmia 2025 a Cantina Il Poggio

Hi friends! Here’s a look at the 2025 vintage, with insights from Luca Gualdana, winemaker and director of Cantina Il Poggio.

2024 vs 2025

After a 2024 that won’t be remembered for its highlights, the 2025 season has certainly brought a welcome change.

The weather in 2025

The timing of the harvest and the quality of the grapes reflect the season’s climate. A mild winter allowed the vines to wake up on schedule, and a cool, rainy spring provided just the right amount of water to help the plants face the intense heat of June and July without stress, while keeping diseases at bay.
July and August brought notable temperature swings between day and night, perfect for developing aromatic complexity in the grapes.

The harvest

We arrived at harvest almost two weeks earlier than in 2024. Both red and white grapes were in excellent health, with balanced acidity and sugar levels, resulting in wines that are approachable, smooth, and ready to enjoy – exactly what the market is looking for.

A minor note

The only downside was a slightly lower production, down 10–20%, but this is happily accepted considering the outstanding quality of the grapes.
